Straining myself whilst patting myself on the back...

It is, of course, Saturday and so, like all Saturdays, I find myself here facing this blog I have comitted to writing and, like so many blogs before it, my commitment is not with out it's limits. However, so early in this incubated phase I must remain true and steadfast to some sense enthusiasm even when the heavy blanket of a normal night clouds my will with various temptations (I.E. Netflix, working on my current novel, and other activities on varying scales of productivity)

Early, I made the conscious decision to dedicate this blog to either the field of horror or that I my own wiritng, in line with efforts to, at the very least, appear more professional and less completely scatter brained.

So, tonight I will choose, if you'll permit me, to report on the current progress of my sixth novel, tentatively entitled THE WILD ONE, and to convey my utter satisfaction with the state of skill in which the story is being told. No small feat considering the various bouts of "writer's block" I've endured (which is really just a sap of will)

While I realize that this may come across as egotistical or narcissitic or self-obsessed or what-have-you (in fact, I am quite impressed with your endurance thus far), I believe firmly that what I have to say may in fact help others, particularly writers.

You see, all of my previous novels have been very much oriented on their premise. Perhaps even, if I'm being hyper-critical here, to some detriment as slightly convoluted tales. I believe this is in large part due to the fact that most of these stories have been formenting in my brain for so long.

Not so with THE WILD ONE, which has only been with me a couple of years, relatively speaking this is a short while when it comes to me and plotting novels.

The premise of THE WILD ONE started off rather concise, simple enough. I just knew that I wanted right about this big bad horse that killed, having recently crawled out of the Earth. I know it would revolve around something about how like this harness racing track was built on an Indian burial ground or something like that and there you have...

Starting with a simple premise allowed this story to grow and develope at a very natural pace. Where as, in the past, my work tended to be a little top heavy in the explanation department.

I also feel like I'm more open to writing better sentences. More so than my previous work, I believe I've concuted several instances where readers might be delighted the words I've managed to put together, at least those readers are capable of being delighted by words... a few unlikely pairs if I do say so myself, but, all in all, I think it works.

Anyways, please check out my latest novel when it is completed. I will keep you all posted. That's it for now.
